Life Flight

This is a stock photo from the internet

This evening I received terrible news in the form of a text message.  It was about a dear friend named Brent.  Brent is a hardworking dad with a passion for riding bikes.  He recently competed over the Spring break holiday and currently holds many "King of the Hill" records including the much coveted Ranger Creek Road hill.  He is also the father to four beautiful children and has a lovely wife named Mandy.

The text message dinged my phone while my kids were rushing around getting ready for bed.  It read, "Urgent Request....Brent Wells was hit on his bike and life flighted to the hospital.  The school principal is on her way and will keep us all posted.  Please pray for his wife and four children."

I immediately sent Mandy a message and her sister quickly replied with the following message, "Dr says he has significant bruise on the brain, fractured jaws, lots of cuts.  Mandy is going in now to see him.  The next 72 hours are crucial to see how the brain reacts.  There doesn't seem to be any damage to the spine."  Silver lining: No spinal damage, PRAISE GOD.

I stopped what I was doing and called my children to the table and we prayed for mercy, healing, peace, and above all, a miracle from heaven.  God can work a miracle in the life of this family.  I started to look for scriptures to speak truth over their situation and to STORM heaven with prayer.  I'm including the scriptures I found to help me pray for this family.  You might also know someone going through sickness and I encourage you to use these scriptures to speak over their situations.

Matthew 7

New International Version (NIV)

Ask, Seek, Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
“Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 21

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Curses a Fig Tree

18 Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city,
he was hungry.19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it
but found nothing on it except
leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!
 Immediately the tree withered.
20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed.
“How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
21 Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt,
not only can you do what was done to the fig tree,
but also you can say to this mountain,
‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Mark 11:22-25(It is similar to what you see above)

22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God.
23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain,
‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.
But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.
24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve
received it, it will be yours. 25 But when you are praying,
first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father
in heaven will forgive your sins, too.[f]

I am thankful for the opportunity to understand the very fragility of our lives
(Day 93).  Tell people you love them.  Live each day to the fullest.
Forgive completely.  Please pray for the Wells Family.  Goodnight Friends.
