Prepping and Other Goodies

Chloe caught a little new coverage of Oklahoma and heard a storm could be moving through our area.  While I was walking around HEB getting the basics, she was writing a list of items needed in our safe room.  When we arrived home I finished a few projects keeping clear of Chloe's wild rushing around the house.  After I took the photograph she added a few stuffed animals just in case we needed cuddle items.  Some day she will make a very prepared mother or an extremely anxious one; I'm hoping for prepared.

I was happy to see the Cheetos made it to the safe room as well as ibuprofen, a flashlight, Life cereal, red solo cups, a first aid kit, other random chips, 2 changes of clothes, sleeping bags, rain boots, and water, lots of water.  She was rushing around trying to prepare for the tornado that was not going to hit us while Brett stood at the window saying, "The storm is moving in.  Chloe did you notice the greenish color of the sky?  That means a tornado is nearby."  His words only added to her frenzy while he entertained himself causing her to worry.

Chloe's brain was wrapped around the devastation she witnessed on the television where an entire city was nearly destroyed.  Brett avoided seeing any images of Oklahoma and instead focuses his energy on creating new habitats for bugs.

Chloe finishes her preparations for the storm and turns her attention to her bee presentation.  As a recipient of a Junior Scholarship from the Alamo Area Beekeeper's Association(AABA), she was required to present on her progress thus far.  She made a poster with a few images I managed to print from Facebook this afternoon.

Brett managed to catch a snake while we were heading out the door.  It bit him twice, but he was certain this was his snake from last year that escaped one day when he was having outdoor playtime with his pet snake.  I tried to explain to him that snakes are unlike dogs in that they don't require outside play time.  Thadd made him return it to the pond where he grabbed it while it was swimming happily in search of food.

As Chloe and I walked out the door to the AABA Meeting, we were happy to leave Dad with decision of whether or not the snake stays.  By the time we got home from the meeting, Brett was sleeping and the snake was free again.  I'm sure there were tears involved, but at least he was able to play with it for a while.

The AABA meeting was trying to be shorter than usual since the Spurs were playing, but instead there were lots of questions and issues discussed.  There were also goat milk soaps for sale.  Chloe raided my purse and bought a goat milk soap.  I was fairly annoyed since I have 4 liters of fresh goat's milk in the fridge and I gave an additional three away.  The whole way home she talked about all the things she wanted to do this summer.  On her to do list was to make soaps and also to conduct an experiment with chickens and time between sitting and laying with different controls and situations.  Sounds like an adventure to me.

I'm glad to finally be home now and ready to go to bed.  I am thankful for a enthusiastic and bright children who constantly imagine, dream and love so grandly.(Day 141)  Goodnight Friends.
