At church they spoke about honor in authority. My children and I both needed to hear the sermon, but I was reminded about something very important. Most often you are given a place of authority because you are a good leader; good leaders care about the people they lead. Good leaders are supposed to be honest and forthcoming, patient and kind, and supportive. Parents are supposed to be good leaders.
There are days when I don't want to be a parent or a good leader. It is a hard job to be fair, considerate, supportive and cautious at all times. When your child wants to know, "Why?" it is often difficult to be a good leader. After the fifteenth time they've asked in a five minute time period you want to just yell, "BECAUSE I SAID SO!!" Good leaders don't say, "BECAUSE I SAID SO!"
This is not a BASH session for you to think of the inadequacies of your leaders, rather an opportunity for you to be a better one. I am thankful for a husband who leads honorably(Day 129). Goodnight Friends.
