Although this is not the exact bouquet, this evening I spent time with my friend and neighbor as we created her wedding bouquet. She will we be married tomorrow on 12/12/12 at 12 noon. This evening we visited on her kitchen floor as we arranged flowers and shared laughs.
A little more than three years ago I first met my neighbor in a local jewelry store, The Green Bull. She was not my neighbor at that time, but I thought she was a sweet woman. A year ago, I was at a gala where I found myself admiring her artwork sitting on 150 tables. Eight months ago, I moved in next door to her and feel so blessed to finally be able to celebrate such a wonderful milestone with her.
I don't think we meet people on accident, EVER. Sometimes you are there for them and sometimes they are there for you, but every person has a unique purpose in shaping our lives. I can't be sure the role my neighbor plays in my life, but I've enjoyed watching the progression of our friendship. We share things over the fence; sometimes it is jello and sometimes it is lemons. I think I am especially blessed because I know she is always a phone call or text away.
I hope each of you have neighbors like mine. Someone you can trust and to call friend is an incredibly comforting feeling knowing they are two hundred or so steps away. The best part is she can't see me running around with only a towel because she is just far enough away. I think she considers herself lucky in that regard, as well. Tomorrow I will be present to witness her new beginning as she has been here to witness ours in our new home. I am sure there will be many more adventures to report.
On a completely different note, you will be happy to know that Kiki, the outside kitty, is still alive and seems to be doing fine. The only thing I'm noticing is no bowel movement. Hopefully tomorrow will be a step closer to feeling better. We identified the tree responsible for the damage. It is a large cedar tree with a jagged edge where it looks as though it was precariously cut. Thadd promised to fix it this weekend and we are lucky it was a cedar and not an oak. It seems to have broken off with the force of the cat coming down the tree, an oak wouldn't have budged. The injury is not easy to see unless you flip her over and flipping her over is NOT on her list of things to do. For now we administer medication and visit her often. Tonight before bed Chloe walked in for a visit and said, "A fuzzy blanket, a warm light, a fluffy kitten, it doesn't get any better than this! Can I sleep with her?" It does look rather cozy in there, but I sent her to her own bed instead.
Today was a good day. I am thankful for wonderful neighbors(Day 19). Goodnight Friends!
